General suggestions

I've been browsing through the articles here, and
have noticed that many of them are not so much articles as
questions on how to get or stay fit.

General fitness is comprised of several elements which
must all be present: Exercise, proper diet and proper attitude.
Miss any of these three, and you won't really get healthy.

30 minutes of good exercise a day will help you lose fat and
tone muscle, and it doesn't have to be pumping iron
simple calisthenics (situps, pushups, stretches, brisk
walking) can be enough to keep you fit if done regularly,
and can be enjoyable. More complex but less stressful exercise,
like Tai Chi or swimming, can also be very helpful.

Proper diet does NOT mean following the [FILL IN THE BLANK]
diet plan - it means getting a proper mix of nutrition, avoiding
over-processed foods, not taking in more calories than
you need, and getting a good mix of vitamins and other things
- eat vegetables, meats (in moderation), carbs (also in
moderation) all in balance and not only will it be cheaper
than processed foods, but will also usually taste better.

Attitude is the simplest and most complex element of fitness.
If you can find a state of being that is healthy and balanced,
somewhere between "couch potato" and "gym
rat", which gives you a positive outlook on life and
keeps you out in the world, being active, you'll be
more likely to stay fit so you can keep up with everything
happening around you. Get involved in the world outside
the office and the bedroom, and turn of the TV, and you'll
get healthy and stay that way.
