Meeting people in Reno
Ive been here in Reno for about 2 and a half years now, not
very long really but long enough to notice some changes
around here and I dont mean all the road construction,
is it just me or does anyone else notice a change in the attitude
of the general public here?
Im not a drinker so dont really spend any time in the bars
so Im trying to meet people out in my everyday activities,
that however seems to be getting harder these days here
in Reno. There is the ever increasing its all about me
attitude moving in here, however people in general seem
to be a lot busier and dont have time or patience for anyone
else these days. I have come to the conclusion that unless
I can make some kind of impression within say the first 4
or 5 seconds of contact - forget it, or better yet, you are
already forgotten, it does get frustrating. I mean how
do you get to was that good for you?if you dont get much
past hello? Christ!....... I do ok it just seems to take
a lot more effort lately to get past the initial contact.
Im sure I could do much better in the bars but thats not really
what I am looking for.
Actually things like the road construction and the population
boom, (ie- 100 people in a room built for 50) do add to the
tension and impatience but most of the people I first met
here were pretty tolerant of that kind of thing.
So is it inevitable? Will Reno become another stuck up little
city?
I know we are definitely better off here than a lot of places,
its just how quickly the change seems to be taking place
that worries me. Maybe it is just me, I know some of you have
been here a lot longer than I have, what do you think?
